Error description
The 1379 INVALIDTCB error is new in V5.5. In CPSM V5.5, new code was added to validate that applications attempting to make EXEC CPSM calls are link edited with the correct stub. We have two stubs, with different code depending on whether you want to execute your code in a MAS region (and on a CICS TCB) or in a batch job (non-CICS TCB). For MAS regions the applications need to use the EYU9AMSI stub, while the batch job applications need to use the EYU9ABSI stub. It is important that the correct stub be used. In this case the batch job in question was actually a CICS EXCI batch job, and had just enough of a "CICS flavour" to the address space to confuse the validation logic into mistakenly believing that this is was a CICS address space. This APAR corrects the new validation logic.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICSPlex SM users * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When EXEC CPSM CONNECT command is used * * in DFHXCURM (External CICS Interface * * User Replaceable Module), RESPONSE * * (1030) and REASON(1379) might be * * returned to the EXCI batch job, which * * indicates the failure of CPSM stub * * validation * **************************************************************** In CPSM V5.5, new code was added in EYU0ABG0 to validate if the applications attempting to make EXEC CPSM calls are link edited with the correct stub. For applications running in the MAS regions, stub EYU9AMSI is expected. However, for applications running as a batch job, stub EYU9ABSI should be used. EYU0ABG0 executes for EXEC CPSM API commands in applications link edited using the EYU9ABSI stub, and attempts to ensure that the code is not executing in an online CICS environment. The AFCS control block for the current address space is inspected to determine whether this is a CICS address space, but fails to distinguish an online CICS environment from a batch EXCI (External CICS Interface) application. Address spaces executing batch CICS EXCI applications which also issue an EXEC CPSM CONNECT command will receive RESPONSE 1030 (ENVIRONERROR) and REASON 1379 (INVALIDTCB).
Problem conclusion
Module EYU0ABG0 has been updated to enhance the TCB validation logic to provide support for batch EXCI address spaces.
