Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of the IBM Automatic Binary * * Optimizer (ABO) for z/OS, v1.3 that run ABO * * on an IBM z14 ZR1 (model 3907). * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Immediately after the SMP/E install of * * ABO, the Installation Verification * * Program (IVP) checks that ABO is * * installed correctly and is functional. * * One of the checks is to ensure that * * both the machine where ABO is * * installed * * and the machine where the optimized * * binaries will be executed, are * * supported by ABO. If the IVP program * * is run on a z14 ZR1 (model 3907), the * * IVP program incorrectly asserts that * * the machine is not supported. The * * JESLOG may contain a message similar * * to the following " IBM z server: 3907 * * is not a supported hardware level to * * run ABO optimized modules " * * The IVP program will also exits with a * * return code of 8. This APAR fixes the * * issue such that the IVP program now * * correctly identifies that the z14 ZR1 * * (model 3907) is supported. If no other * * incompatibilities are found, it also * * exits with a return code of 0. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply provided service * **************************************************************** The IVP program was modified to correctly identify the z14 machine (model 3907) as supported.
Problem conclusion
The IVP program no longer asserts that the the z14 machine (model 3907) is not supported.
