PH16308: CICSPA HISTORICAL DATA BASE SELECT CRITERIA WITH BLANKS NOT WORKING AT V5.4

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• A HDB Summary report showing abending tasks.
  A filter on the report using SELECTION CRITERIA as follows:
    CICSPA SELECT(PERF(EXCL(ABCODEO('    '))))
  .
  At CICS PA 5.3, this works fine. The Summary reports only tasks
  that have abended, ie. an abend code in ABCODEO.
  At CICS PA 5.4, this fails. The Summary report shows All tasks
  regardless of the abcode content.

  It fails when using a HDB summary but not a standard LIST
  report. LIST reports work at 5.3 & 5.4. Showing only tasks that
  have a abcode.

  Performance Historical Data Base Selection Criteria ignores a
  selection value of blanks, resulting in incorrect records being
  selected for reporting. An example of this type of selection
  criteria is:
  SELECT(PERFORMANCE(EXC(ABCODEO(' '))))
  

Problem conclusion

• The PTF of this APAR corrects the HDB selection criteria
  processing to honour blank selection values.
