PH15055: CICS REGION ENCOUNTERS DFHTD0382 THAT BRINGS DOWN CICS. DFHINTRA IS OVER 2GB in CICS TS V5.4

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• In CICS Transaction Server v5.4, the CICS region comes down
  with a DFHTD0382 message when a more than 2GB size of the TD
  queue is specified. The RBA value is going over x'80000000'.
  CICS isn't designed to do that and this problem should be fixed
  by APAR PK97678 in CICS TS v3. But it returned in CICS TS 5.4.
  This problem is a base code regression.
  During CICS region startup, you may see a DFHTD0386 message,
  DFHTD0386  The high RBA value of the primary extent for
  intrapartition data set (DD name ddname) is X'highrba'. This
  exceeds the maximum allowable value of 2GB, and will be capped
  to a value of X'80000000' minus the CI size of the data set.

• Make sure that size of DFHINTRA does not exceed 2GB
  

Problem summary

  If an intrapartition transient data queue is defined which is
  larger than 2GB, DFHTDB's test of the size as an unsigned
  integer fails to prevent this and CICS terminates.
  

Problem conclusion

• DFHTDB has been changed to treat the values used in the
  calculation as signed and return message DFHTD0245 if the RBA of
  a WRITEQ would have exceeded 2GB.
