Error description
IBM Developer for z Systems - IDz - v14.1.7 Description : To be able to insert a quote " in a string value in " " you need to double this double quote but the Cobol parser does not take this syntax into account and considers both of them as a single character. For example, if a variable is defined as followed : 01 name1 PIC X(40) VALUE "%à äâÃÃéèëêÃÃïîÃÃöôÃÃùüûÃÃç_.,:/!;?'""()[]" . the Cobol parser will count 41 characters instead of 40. A warning is displayed on the VALUE line with "The value is too long for the data element"
Local fix
Problem summary
The problem is that value is seen as too long of 41 characters rather than 40 as specified in the PIC clause.
Problem conclusion
The problem for the file was fixed.
Temporary fix
