Error description

  • The user is using an OEM tool to move a segmented tablespace
from one subsystem to another; the tool mimics the IBM
    DSN1COPY utility.
At the end of the procedure a REPAIR CATALOG utility is run
    and it ends with :
    DSNU671I <DB2I 197 16:38:54.89 DSNUCBVR - DBID=X'01AF'
PSID=X'002E' OBID=X'004C' TABLE VERSION IS NOT IN THE RANGE
    OF TABLE SPACE VERSION.
    DSNU667I <DB2I 197 16:38:54.89 DSNUCBVR - REPAIR CANNOT FIX
    THE ERROR.
    .
    REPAIR DBD DIAGNOSE shows:
    DSNU915I DSNUEDLO - OBD X'004C' E-X'000032AC' R-X'00000000'
A RECORD-TYPE OBD WHICH HAS BEEN LOGICALLY DELETED
So the OBD in the REPAIR CATALOG message is for a dropped
    table.
REPAIR CATALOG checking needs to be be enhanced to skip
dropped tables in a segmented tablespace.

Local fix

  • a) restore the PTF for PH03896
    or
    b) repair dbd rebuild

    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply corrective PTF when available *
    ****************************************************************
The fix for new function APAR PH03896 enhanced REPAIR CATALOG
to detect tables that are out of the table space version range
    by issuing
DSNU671I TABLE VERSION IS NOT IN THE RANGE OF TABLE SPACE
             VERSION.
This message could be issued incorrectly for a dropped table
when its version is out of the table space version range.

Problem conclusion

  • REPAIR CATALOG code is fixed to exclude a dropped table from
being checked if its version is within the table space version
    range.
