Controller Background image or menu items are blurred/fuzzy when published via Citrix, caused by using aggressive Citrix bandwidth compression feature

Troubleshooting


Problem

End user launches the main Controller client (CCR.EXE). Inside Controller client, they find that the images/screens are blurred.
The symptoms may be different for different environments.
  • Example #1 - When using Controller 8.3, one real-life customer found that the background image was blurred
  • Example #2 - When using Controller 10.1, one customer found that the menu items were grainy / fuzzy.

Symptom

The exact nature will vary between environments, but below is a picture of the menu items from one real-life customer delivering Controller 10.1 via Citrix XenApp 5:
