Error description

  • APPL hung in PDELR state. CLOSE ACB hang.
Dump shows that CLOSE is waiting for a DELETENR from APPC
because LUCB bit LUCWAPPC is on. However, this is not an
APPC=YES APPL. Storage alteration trap showed that this
was set on by ISTSDCNE - who thought it was setting bit
    LUCTSCR in a MALT.

The following description summarizes the problem:
     1) Non APPC APPL is abending.
     2) ISTTSCRF sends an FNA for a base APPL.
     3) ISTSDCNE is driven with an LUCB instead of a MALT.
(because the control block being used is an LUCB, LUCWAPPC
is set on instead of LUCTSCR)
     4) When LUCWAPPC is on, CLOSE will wait for a DELETENR from
        APPC processing.
     5) A DELETENR will not flow because the APPL is not APPC.
     6) CLOSE ACB hangs PDELR.

#2 is the reason the problem is occurring. ISTTSCRF should not
send an FNA for a base APPL. ISTTSCRF is sending the FNA because
    TSPNAPND is on.
TSPNAPND indicates a Network ADD is pending for this FMCB which
represents an Auxiliary Network address. TSPNAPND is currently
set on in TSC when it creates an FMCB to represent a session and
is turned off when the session is Network Added.
TSC (ISTTSCQA) is setting TSPNAPND on for all FMCB's that
represent a session, but TSPNAPND should ONLY be set on when the
FMCB represents an AUXILIARY NETWORK address.

Problem conclusion

  • ISTTSCQA has been changed as follows:
IF the flow is inbound and the DAF is not equal to the APPL's
base or secondary network address then set TSPNAPND on.

IF the flow is outbound and the OAF is not equal to the APPL's
base or secondary network address then set TSPNAPND on.
