    *                      CP-CP session activation from a VTAM EN *
    * to its preferred NNS fails and the *
    *                      EN can no longer establish a CP-CP      *
    * session with any NNS. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
      The link from a VTAM EN to its preferred NNS was inactive.
    So, the EN was in session with an alternate NNS. The link to
    the preferred NNS came active and caused the EN to go into the
    NSPREF switchover process. The existing NNS session was
    terminated with sense 08B50000 and the session to the preferred
    NNS was attempted.
      Before the session to the preferred NNS was attempted, the
    link to the preferred NNS failed. This caused the the session
    to the preferred NNS to fail with 80140001. The EN then tried
    to set up a session to the alternate NNS, but this failed with
    08B50000 because the NNSPREF switchover bit was not reset. From
    that point, the EN could no longer establish a CP-CP session
    with any NNS.

Problem conclusion

  • ISTSCWFM was changed to properly reset the NNSPREF switchover
    bit when the session to the preferred NNS fails. ISTSCCFM was
    changed to properly handle the timed retry to the preferred NNS
    during the NNSPREF switchover process.
