  • DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS generates needless ALTER
    IMPLICIT LOB TABLESPACE when altering a column in the base table
    using Chnage Management function and running the change

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When altering a table containing a      *
    *                      LOB column and the change leads         *
    *                      to a DROP/CREATE, an unneeded ALTER     *
    *                      statement was generated in the          *
    *                      CHANGE file and it triggered a          *
    *                      REORG which finally caused the          *
    *                      RUN change job to fail with a           *
    *                      Return Code 8 / RC 8:                   *
    *                                                              *
    *                      The following ADMIN ALTER statement     *
    *                      is executed:                            *
    *                                                              *
    *                      ADMIN ALTER IMPLICIT LOB                *
    *                      TABLESPACE                              *
    *                      FOR TABLE table-name                    *
    *                         COLUMN(lob-column-name)              *
    *                      USING STOGROUP stogroup-name.           *
    *                                                              *
    *                      and invalid REORG syntax is             *
    *                      generated by the ADBTEP2 Batch          *
    *                      Restart Program as a result of          *
    *                      the above 'ADMIN ALTER IMPLICIT         *
    *                      LOB TABLESPACE' statement. The          *
    *                      unneeded REORG causes the               *
    *                      following failure:                      *

    The problem is caused a unneeded ALTER statement being
    generated in the CHANGE file which causes the ADBTEP2 Batch
    Restart Program to create invalid REORG syntax.
