APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • QMF issues the DSQ10344 warning message for codepage 13124, but
    because GDDM does not have a corresponding APPCPG for 13124, the
    user cannot do anything to eliminate the message.

    DSQ10344 MSGDSQ10344 CCSID 13124

Local fix

  • The DSQ10344 is a warning message.
    QMF continues processing so the message can be ignored.

Problem summary

    * for z/OS data bases with certain CCSIDS *
    * may never be able to eliminate the QMF *

    * 351 does not match CCSIDs in use for *
    *                      this database (XXX).                    *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    As documented in QMF APAR PM78500, during QMF initialization,
    QMF will compare the value of the GDDM APPCPG value to the DB2
    for z/OS CURRENT APPLICATION ENCODING SCHEME special register.
    If there is no match, QMF then compares the GDDM APPCPG to
    the first token (SBCS value) of the SYSIBM.SYSTEM_EBCDIC_CCSID
    session variable. If neither of those checks are a match, QMF
    would then issue the warning message DSQ10344 to the user.
    *
    On some systems, users have DB2 CCSIDS defined that do not
    have matching GDDM APPCPG values. This means that there will
    never be a match and the DSQ10344 message will always be
    issued giving the user no way to eliminate the message. As
    this is annoying and not tolerable, if QMF encounters a
    CCSID that can never be matched to a supplied GDDM APPCPG
    value, QMF will bypass checking and not issue the DSQ10344
    warning. Example CCSIDs are 420, 13124, 5123 and 836.

Problem conclusion

  • QMF initialization has been modified to bypass DSQ10344 GDDM
    APPCPG to DB2 z/OS CCSID checking if it is found that the
    DB2 z/OS CCSID can never be matched to a GDDM APPCPG
    setting. Users in this situation should use GDDM APPCPG 351,
    the default GDDM application codepage.
