Error description
One of the purposes of Multiple Resource Checker Summary report is detecting whether database definitions are same or different among RECON, DBD, and ACBLIB. However, it reports "DIFF" (different) for the databases that have same definitions if RECON datasets are included. This is why Multiple Resource Checker compares the record fields in RECON that are related not only database definitions (DBD) but also related to database recovery. To improve this issue, this APAR enhances Multiple Resource Checker to provide a new option to select the scope of RECON comparing. Users can select the scope of comparing whether comparing the record fields in RECON just related to database definitions or including recovery.

**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IMS Library Integrity Utilities for z/OS, * * Version 2 Release 2 (FMID=H27P220) users who * * use the MULTIPLE RESOURCE CHECKER utility. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: One of the purposes of Multiple * * Resource Checker Summary report is * * detecting whether database definitions * * are same or different among RECON, DBD, * * and ACBLIB. * * However, the utility now compares not * * only database definitions but also * * related to database recovery across * * sets of RECON data sets. * * To improve this, this APAR enhanced * * Multiple Resource Checker to provide a * * new option to select the scope of RECON * * comparing. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** This APAR enables the Multiple Resource Checker to support the following functions: +- !NOTICE! ----------------------------------------+ | The default scope of RECON comparison is changed. | +---------------------------------------------------+ 1. Adding a new scope and changing the default scope of RECON comparison. 1-1. Two scopes to compare across sets of RECON data sets are provided: - New scope to compare the fields related to database definitions. - Original scope to compare the fields related to database definitions and database recovery definitions. 1-2. The default scope is changed to compare the fields related to database definitions. 1-3. A new keyword CHKRECON=DBDEF|DBDEF_RCV is added to specify the scope of the fields to be compared. 2. Modifying the reports. 2-1. The RESOURCE CHECK SUMMARY report is enhanced with the followings: - The report depends on the scope of RECON comparison that is determined by CHKRECON= keyword. - Registered DB number stored in the RECON record is reported at RECON DD NUMBER. 2-2. The RECON DIFFERENCE report is enhanced with the followings: - The report depends on the scope of RECON comparison that is determined by CHKRECON= keyword. - The utility reports not only fields with different definitions but also fields with same definitions. The SAME or DIFF mark is reported for each fields. 3. Other enhancements. 3-1. The utility is enhanced to compare database definitions between RECONs and DBDs without specifying ACBs. 3-2. The utility is enhanced to process even if a spare dataset is not specified in the RECONxxn DD statement. 3-3. The utility is enhanced to issue messages indicating the progress if it takes time.
