Incorrect validation codes are assigned by the CCVRC024 Rexx procedure for the FILE definition attribute JOURNAL. As a consequence the batch create/update of a transformation rule for this attribute using the CCVXB01x suite of SCCVXSAMP samples allow a JOURNAL value of invalid length.

The Rexx procedure CCVRC024 assigns validation codes for CICS resource attributes, and is used by the TSO/ISPF online dialog SEARCH panels and the SCCVXSAMP samples CCVXB01x that create/update transformation rules via batch. The validation code for FILE definition attribute JOURNAL is set incorrectly thereby allowing unrestricted input, whereas it should be limited to 2 characters of alphanumeric input.
Problem conclusion
CICS Configuration Manager for z/OS is corrected. 1. The validation codes for the JOURNAL attribute on FILE and PROFILE definitions are corrected in SCCVEXEC Rexx procedures CCVRC010 and CCVRC024. Validation checking is improved for attributes that accept a range of numbers or a specific keyword value, like FILE definition JOURNAL which accepts values 1 to 99 or NO. 2. SCCVSAMP sample CCVXB01R is corrected to perform the validation of CICS resource attributes as per CICS TS release 5.2. 52EY 52KY 520Y CCVE01 CCVE02 CCVPAXFE CCVRC010 CCVRC024 CCVXB01R
