BIRT Editor resets x-axis type to Linear causing problems

Troubleshooting


Problem

When creating or editing a chart with the Chart wizard, selecting the Select Chart Type tab causes an error. This error occurs for all charts with a Category (X) Series, Grouping Aggregate Expression Count. The underlying problem occurs when the Select Chart Type tab is selected after the Aggregate Expression has been set on the Category (X) Series. The displayed error is of the following form: "Unable to use data to render a axis." Two common examples of this error are: * "Unable to use non-numerical data to render a numerical axis." * "Unable to use text data to render a numerical/datetime axis"
