Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of CICS Configuration Manager. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: To provide enhancements to CICS CM. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
The following enhancements have been shipped in this APAR.
    Minor ISPF Dialog enhancements
    1. The ISPF dialog now provides a user exit point for assigning
default values for TCPIP connection details and other ISPF user
settings. Use of the exit routine is optional, and a sample is
provided in SCCVSAMP member CCVDEFLT. The sample contains
    tailoring and installation instructions.
    2. The Name filter used to list CICS resources has been enhanced
Previously masked name filters matched against resources of the
exact-case names and uppercase names, whereas unmasked filters
    only matched the exact-case.
The enhancement enables unmasked name filters to match with
CICS resources of both exact-case names and uppercase names
in the same way as masked name filters.
    3. Panel CCVPAXFI that displays Transformation Rule Set
information, has been enhanced to include the resource type
field. This allows users to see on the one panel the
resource type, attribute, change-from and change-to values.
    *
    Minor server enhancements
    1. A new sample security exit program, CCVX0004, has been added
to the SAMPLE dataset. This is useful for sites wishing to use
a shorter literal for the location type for the SAF resource
used for CICS CM repository objects.
    2. The CICS CM TCPIPServices created during initialisation
are now created in a CLOSED state. They are opened as the
final stage of initialisation at the point where CICS CM is
    ready for use.
    3. Object security has been extended to include DISCARD, INSTALL
and NEWCOPY API commands when used in object mode. Change
package INSTALL and NEWCOPY remain unchanged.

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix

Comments

  • Minor server problems have also been corrected and include the
    following.
    1. The security check against a CP/SM object that is the source
for a COPY operation has been corrected so that only READ access
    is required.
    2. CP/SMobject security has been extended for ADD requests that
associate a resource definition with a ResGroup. Previoulsy,
the user only required ALTER access to the resource within the
target ResGroup. The correction requires that the user also has
UPDATE access to the resource for the source ResGroup specified
in the ADD request. This stops the user from associating
resources to new ResGroups as a means of circumventing update
    access restriction.
    3. Object security for the IMPORT function has been corrected.
The security check for objects imported into a CP/SM context was
rejected when it should have been allowed.
    4. The change package history reporting function to list the
changed objects could occasionally report 'FAILED' in the
function column, even though the operation being reported
    had been successful.
    5. For a failed BACKOUT, a duplicated history entry was added to
    the package/scheme history block.
    6. A change package MIGRATE which creates a new Group in the
target CSD should complete with a return/reason code of 04/24.
The Pscheme record was correct but the Change Package record
    contained zeros for successful completion.
    7. Date filters were not being honoured in option 2.X.X
(expansion of the groups in a CSD list).
    8. BACKOUT reported 'Backout successful' even if it failed to
delete an object from the target repository. BACKOUT
therefore appeared to have backed-out all of the objects and
completed successfully. In doing so, the same package/scheme
migration could not be backed out again as it is recorded as
complete. In addition, a journal end record was not written,
so that the change package history facility could not report
    details of the BACKOUT.
    9. COPY to an export file fails 'Command failed' with server
reason code 'ILLOGIC-ERROR' if dynamic allocation fails for
the export file. The correct response ('Dynamic allocation
error') is now returned for this condition.
    10. For a failed IMPORT of a change package, the auto backout
process failed to process the key association records created
    or updated by the IMPORT.
    11. For renamed CP/SM objects, the data in the journal records
is incorrect, so that the function shown on the journal reports
does not reflect what happened. The journal recording has been
corrected, though any CP/SM objects renamed prior to the
application of this PTF will still show the wrong function code.
