PK61760: STORAGE FRAGMENTATION OCCURS WHICH FLOODS THE OPERATOR CONSOLE WITH WTO MESSAGES FOR OTMA/APPC APPLICATIONS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• This will correct a storage fragmentation issue which caused
  a flooding of the operator console with WTOs from QSUN
  Destination analysis for OTMA/APPC applications.
  
  Three additional issues being addressed:
  1. /CHE FREEZE does not finish, if there are OTMA waiters.
  2. Old QCF V2.1 job is started upon /ERE issuance.
  3. Queue usage going up and below the AREA/FAILSAFE boundary
  will produce a lot of overflow protection warning messages.
  
  Additional symptom found to be addressed:
   IMS V10 hang while waiting for a latch when issuing an IMS
   display command ( /DIS A ) with save flow:
   DFSICIO0 -> ICIOQMGR -> DFSPREQ0 -> DFSQMGR0 -> DFSQDQ00 ->
   DFSQDQ00 -> DFSQC021 -> DFSQC020 -> IQCQMRI0 -> QMRIB000 ->
   IQCCQTT0 -> CQTT1000 -> DFSIWAIT
   Wait is out of IQCCQTT0.

  *                      to load new control region extension,   *
  *                      even there is no library present        *
  *                      to activate new QCF3.1 in control       *
  *                      region.                                 *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Install the APAR.                            *

  Programs have been changed to avoid storage fragmentation, to
  release all resources, to skip activating of QCF3.1 control
  region extension, if not requested.Installation of this APAR
  highly recommended.
