ERROR "THE STATEMENT IS TOO LONG OR TOO COMPLEX"

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Problem Summary: Moving a Site or Site Area with lots of
children returns the DB Error 'The statement is too long or too
    complex'

    Detailed Problem Description:

Attempting to move a Site or SiteArea with lots of children will
return the DB error 'The statement is too long or too complex',
SQL0101N under DB2. This error actually occurs during the final
phase of the move which clears the render caches and thus
doesn't mean that the move has failed, but rather that the
rendering caches are out of sync. Restarting the server is a
valid workaround to fix the render caches

Problem conclusion

  • Problem Analysis:

The moving engine is attempting to optimise the clearing of the
rendering caches by finding all nested children of the moved
item and only removing those from the rendering caches. This
optimisation won't scale with large repositories and in medium
to large repositories is slower than simply clearing the entire
    cache

Failing Module: WCM - Web Content Management (General)

    Problem Solution:

The moving engine was modified to simply clear the render cache
instead of trying to remove selected items, which is faster and
doesn't have the above mentioned problem.
