Problem
Cannot connect to an Ipv6 server using .NET Informix Data Provider on Windows XP SP2 & SP3
Symptom
A connect to an IPv6 server using .NET Informix Data Provider fails with SQL3008N on Windows.
Users can see SQLCODE similar to the following :
| Unhandled Exception: IBM.Data.Informix.IfxException: ERROR [08001] [IBM] SQL3008N A communication error has been detected. Communication protocol being used:"TCP/IP". Communication API being used: "SOCKETS". Location where the error was detected: "3ffe:ffff:ffff:ffff::10". Communication function detecting the error: "getpeername". Protocol specific error code(s): "10057", "*", "*". SQLSTATE=08001 |
This failure is only seen in the following environment:
- Windows XP SP2 (works with W2003 Server R2 x64)
- Using IPv6 sockets (works with IPv4 sockets)
- If the socket SO_RCVBUF is explicitly set
