Error description

  • The range of the group is different from the SWIFT Handbook.
The range of the group RTRN is "0:1" though the qualifier RTRN
is defined as "R" in the SWIFT Handbook.

In essence our type trees are not correct within the SWIFT pack
    provided by IBM.

    .
       Message Type MT542 and MT543
       Block E
       Tag 22F
       Qualifier RTRN

SWIFT SR2007 TypeTree (Pack for swift4.2.1_81)

Local fix

  • WTXCQ - WTX00003167
    RN / RN
The range for RTRN in Sequence E, tag 22F, has been changed from
(0:1) to (s) and can now repeat for MT542 and MT543.

Problem summary

  • Of the two issues reported, one is a defect and one is not.

The first issue, the different order of qualifiers within a
group, is not a defect. These qualifiers are in an unordered
group. An unordered group has one or more components that can
appear in the data stream in any order. They allow many SWIFT
message types to be defined in a more natural way. When a group
is defined as Unordered, any component can appear in the data
    stream.

The second issue, the range of the RTRN qualifier being
different from the SWIFT Handbook, is a valid defect. The range
for RTRN in Sequence E, tag 22F, has been changed from (0:1) to
    (s) and can now repeat for MT542 and MT543.
