    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Users who connect to NON-DB2 for z/OS *
    *                      databases (like DB2 LUW or DB2 AIX)     *
    * that are Version 8.1.5 or higher can *
    * experience incorrect or incomplete SQL *
    * error related messages. For example, a *
    *                      user had connected to a DB2 LUW V8.2.6  *
    * (SQL08026) server. He ran the query: *
    *                      SELECT NOTTHERE FROM SYSIBM.SYSDUMMY1.  *
    * He expected to see a QMF error message *
    * that said: 'Column NOTTHERE is not in *
    * any table named in the query.' Instead, *
    * he saw error message: 'Column is not *
    * in any table named in the query.' *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    QMF was incorrectly calling the DB2 for z/OS V8.1.5 and higher
    SQL error handling module in all cases where any database of any
    type was V8.1.5 and higher.

Problem conclusion

  • QMF module DSQIMSGM has been corrected to call the DB2 for z/OS
    SQL error handling routine, DSQISDGN, only when in a DB2 for
    z/OS V8.1.5 or higher server. QMF error handling for non DB2 for
    z/OS servers will be handled as it previously was. Note that
    this problem is not restricted to any particular SQL code, but
    either incorrect or an incomplete SQL error message could be
    seen for any SQL code-related error message that occurs
    when QMF is running in a non-DB2 for z/OS server (V8.1.5 or
    higher).
