Troubleshooting
Problem
When using IBM Rational Application Developer for WebSphere Software v7 to develop web projects, sometimes the Web Deployment Descriptor file (that is, the web.xml) cannot be opened in the Deployment Descriptor editor.
Symptom
The following Redirecting Editor error occurs when you try to open the web.xml file by double-clicking it:
IWAE0028E The selected input is not valid for this type of editor. Redirecting to the XML editor.

This issue will also cause your web application to be unable to deploy onto the integrated WebSphere® Application Server.
