PK38399: SQLCODEN601 AFTER ADBTEP2 ISSUED MESSAGE UNEXPECTED SQLCODE IN : LOCK ADBPART(1)

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The DB2 Administration Tool program ADBTEP2 did not issue an
  appropriate return code after failing to lock the ADBPART table
  in exclusive mode. The program issued a message:
  UNEXPECTED SQLCODE IN : LOCK ADBPART(1)
  and the step ends RC=00.
  Since this caused a rollback the next step fails with a SQLCODE
  -601 as the DROP statements had not been committed.

  *                      a  deadlock or  timeout does occur, the *
  *                      message  "UNEXPECTED  SQLCODE IN : LOCK *
  *                      ADBPART(1)"  will  be  issued,  with an *
  *                      SQLCODE of -911,and rollback performed. *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the PTF.                               *
  ****************************************************************
  The lock is not needed at this point in ADBTEP2.
  

Problem conclusion

• This particular lock request is eliminated.
