    * USERS AFFECTED: All of IMS V10 customers using OTMA *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: OTMA needs to provide an option so that *
    * the /STA OTMA command does not need to *
    * be recovered during emergency restart. *

    * RECOMMENDATION: INSTALL CORRECTIVE SERVICE FOR APAR/PTF *
    ****************************************************************
The /STA OTMA command is currently recovered during the
emergency restart. However, this could cause a OTMA message
flood condition when OTMA is automatically started during the
emergency restart. An option is needed for our customers so
that the /STA OTMA command can be a non-recoverable command.

Comments

  • This APAR offers two methods to make
the /START OTMA a non-recoverable command during ERE:

    Method 1:

A new option M to the OTMA= parameter is introduced
in the IMS control region JCL or DFSPBxxx
PROCLIB member. This new option allows OTMA to
be started later by the /START OTMA command, and
the command is not recovered during emergency restart.

    Method 2:

The /START OTMA command can be issued with
NOCHECK parameter so that the command is not
recovered during emergency restart. This command
enhancement allows customers to get the feature
without changing the IMS control region JCL or
    DFSPBxxx PROCLIB member.
For example, /START OTMA NOCHECK can be issued to start the
OTMA connection and to make this command a non-recoverable
    command.

The following IMS modules were updated:

DFSWPBDF - This module was enhanced for syntax checker.
DFSKEYT0 - This module was enhanced to accept OTMA=M option.
DFSAINB0 - This modules was enhanced to process OTMA=M and save
the information in OTMA TSCD block.
DFSICWA - This copy file was updated to add an internal flag.
DFSTSCD - This copy file was updated to add a new field for
               saving OTMA=M info.
DFSYC480 - This module was updated to process /STA OTMA NOCHECK
               command.

    The following modules were recompiled:

    DFSAOAM1
    DFSAOA00
    DFSPRMS0
    DFSPRRG0

Most of the needed external changes for this
forward-fit APAR do exist in the V10 books
except the IMS command reference as follows:

    External Updates:

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    V10 IMS Command Reference
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Needs to be enhanced to add the following:

    /START Command

    Format

    /START OTMA ------------------------
                    | |
                    |__NOCHECK__|

    Usage

NOCHECK specifies that the command is not recovered during
            emergency restart for OTMA.
