PK36982: LAUNCHPAD UPDATES ARE NOT VISIBLE WHEN STORED IN OBJECT COMPARE LIBRARY ( DEFAULT ACTION )

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• In DB2 Administration Tool, users can start Launchpad using the
  DMT option of ADBL clist. If PRODADD is also used to include the
  libraries for DB2 Object Compare Tool, updates for Launchpad
  are saved by default into the OC TLIB, and are not visible when
  restarting Launchpad.
  

Local fix

• 1. Save updates in Admin TLIB dataset, SADBTLIB , when prompted
     for dsn for saving changes to Launchpad panel.

  2. Alternate method to make default action save updates in
  SADBTLIB is to start Launchpad with only Admin parms, omitting
  PRODADD and LIBAPRE parms for the OC Tool, when modifying
  the Launchpad panel options / choices. Using only Admin libs
  when making Launchpad additions / changes will insure that the
  modifications are saved in SADBTLIB.

  Then, when ready to test new Launchpad changes: invoke ADBL in
  the normal manner, using DMT option to start Launchpad; and also
  specify PRODADD and LIBAPRE parms to provide access to OC libs.

  *                      while Object Compare libraries are also *
  *                      specified, and then a user runs         *
  *                      Launchpad without the Object Compare    *
  *                      libraries, then the update will not be  *
  *                      present if the update was stored in     *
  *                      the default library.                    *

  * RECOMMENDATION: APPLY the PTF.                               *

  When both Admin Tool and  Object Compare are installed, Object
  Compare is allocated first. When specifying the target library
  for a Launchpad update the first library, Object Compare, is
  the default. If the user presses enter without selecting the
  Admin Tool library, then the update is placed in the Object
  Compare library. If the user subsequently runs Launchpad without
  the Object  Compare library, then the update will be missing.
  

Problem conclusion

• Initialization CLIST ADBL has been changed to allow the
  installer to specify a new parameter DMTID to indicate which
  library should be selected by default. Installers can specify
  this parameter in their local front end panel, CLIST or REXX
  exec that invokes the ADBL CLIST. An S is placed in the Sel
  field for the appropriate row.
