Error description
The new DFHSYDMP program in, CICS TS 5.4, sets up a system dump code for message DFHSO1000. This, in turn, causes a system dump to be taken even in the case where a CONNECT_SOCK fails due to timeout. This can cause multiple unnecessary dumps. This APAR is being taken to explore changing DFHSOS12, to only issue an exception trace entry for an AioRc of 1127 (x'467') meaning ETIMEDOUT and to not call DFHMEME to issue message DFHSO1000. Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: An SO1000 system dump is taken for * * message DFHSO1000 when an IPCONN * * has a HOST IP address that is valid * * but not in use. * **************************************************************** The PLTPI SIT parameter had a value other than NO so CICS initialization invoked PLT programs, including the user-replaceable module (URM) DFHSYDMP. DFHSYDMP used EXEC CICS SET SYSDUMPCODE to add an entry for dump code SO1000 to the system dump table. An attempt was then made to ACQUIRE an IPCONN with a HOST IP address that was valid but not in use. Message DFHSO1000 was output, with sufficient information to diagnose the issue with the IPCONN. A system dump was also taken which was not needed to resolve the issue.
Problem conclusion
The EXEC CICS SET SYSDUMPCODE request to add dump code SO1000 to the system dump table is commented out in DFHSYDMP. The request could be reinstated by editing the URM if a system dump is needed to resolve a TCP/IP communications failure reported by DFHSO1000.
