Shared memory version invalid

Troubleshooting


Problem

This technote explains why the error []Error: Shared memory version invalid[], and, []Error: Login failed for process almd file [], might occur when using IBM® Rational® ClearCase® on Linux® and UNIX®.

Symptom


The following errors may be seen in the db_server log:

 db_server(7714): Ok:
db_server(7714): Ok: *** db_VISTA database error -901 - system error
db_server(7714): Error: Shared memory version invalid.
 db_server(7714): Error: DBMS error in "../db1.c"  line 1189
db_server(7714): Error: DBMS error in /net/host/vobstore/test.vbs/db.
db_server(7714): Error: db_VISTA error -901 (errno == "Resource temporarily unavailable")

 db_server(1811): Ok:
db_server(1811): Ok: *** db_VISTA database error  -901 - system error
db_server(1811): Error: Login failed for process 1811, almd file /net/host/vobstore/test.vbs/db/almd                          
db_server(1811): Error: DBMS error in /net/host/vobstore/test.vbs/db.
