IBM Support

If running Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux), you must identify the Java shared libraries to the system

Troubleshooting

Problem

Security Enhanced Linux® (SELinux) will block the execution of any IBM® JRE 5.0 program including the IBM Installation Manager that is used to install the referenced IBM Packages.

Symptom

On Security-Enhanced Linux a JVM Terminated dialog box appears, followed by the setroubleshooter browser alert indicating the program has been blocked.

Cause

Security-Enhanced Linux stops the execution of the IBM JRE 5.0. The JRE™ libraries will need to be allowed access.

Resolving The Problem

The Security Enhanced Linux troubleshooter browser can be used to enable the use of the JRE used for the Installation Manager. Click here for more information about the IBM JRE.

A portion of the web page is reproduced below. You will find the corresponding folders where you have unzipped your Installation Manager in the jre_xxx directory. The same commands may be required for other installed versions of the IBM JRE.

If you are running Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux), you must identify the Java shared libraries to the system. Type:
chcon -R -t texrel_shlib_t  .../jre_5.0.2.sr5_20070511/jre/bin
chcon -R -t texrel_shlib_t  .../jre_5.0.2.sr5_20070511/jre/java2-i386-50/lib

You will find the corresponding folders where you have unzipped your Installation Manager in the jre_xxx directory.
