Error description
The generated_web.xml is empty when installing an application us
Local fix
Install the application not from a exported ear or if using a exported ear do not use the pre-compile JSP option.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server * * traditional * * versions 8.5.5 and 9.0 users of JavaServer * * Pages (JSP) * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The generated_web.xml file generated by * * WebSphere Application Server does not * * contain any mapping of previously * * compiled JSP files. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When pre-compiling JSP pages using the IBM Console or the JSP batch compiler, if the web module contains the JSP attribute useFullPackageNames set to true, the generated_web.xml might not contain all the JSP mappings. The problem arises when the same web module had compiled JSP files in the temp folder and the web module was reinstalled or recompiled using the JSP batch compiler.
Problem conclusion
The JSP engine was modified to include all the JSP mappings into the generated_web.xml regardless of if they are already compiled or not. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 8.5.5.14 and 9.0.0.8.
