Troubleshooting
Problem
Resolving The Problem
Supported Browsers and Operating Systems
Modern web browsers are supported. However not all browsers are tested and thus problems may be encountered with less widely adopted browsers.
The customer-side AOS utility is supported on Windows and Linux with the same caveat as above for linux variants.
The IBM-side AOS Console is support on Windows, Linux, and Mac.
Software Firewalls
Software firewalls can block the Assist On-site connection. If the firewall logs indicate that traffic has been blocked, configure the firewall according to the vendor's instructions and pursuant to the server and port information in this document.
Ports, Relay Hosts, and IP Information
If additional configuration is required with a customers’ firewall or proxy, the following table describes required IP and port configuration->
| Hostname / GEO | IP | Ports |
| aos.us.ihost.com | 72.15.208.234 | 443 |
| Americas Broker | 72.15.223.62 | 443 |
| Americas Broker | 161.156.100.165 | 443 |
| Americas Broker | 150.238.213.135 | 443 (AOS Version 4 only) |
In order for Assist On-Site to work, the customer must allow SSL outbound traffic to download the AOS plugin from the following server->
72.15.208.234 on port 8200 or 80
In order to leverage geographically specific relay servers and realize improved throughput, the customer should also allow encrypted non-SSL (MARs encryption) outbound traffic to one of the geographically specific relay servers on ports 8200, 80, or 443:
72.15.208.234 aos.us.ihost.com
72.15.223.61 aosback.us.ihost.com
72.15.223.60 aosrelay1.us.ihost.com
195.171.173.165 aos.uk.ihost.com
If the connection cannot be established, an error is displayed on the screen, a diagnostic log is written to disk and automatically open in a browser so the customer can review the diagnostic information being gathered and send it to support for analysis.
This file is stored in the user "temp" directory and is named connrpt.html. (on windows machine - open Start --> Run --> type in %temp% or %tmp% to go to the correct folder)
Here is an example of a log file where the connection fails because the customer's network setup doesn't allow the connection to go through port 80 because the data is not HTTP.

Proxy support
As the Assist On-Site utility is not installed on the remote system and attempts to leave no trace on the customer's system, there is not a configuration step for the proxy settings where the customer has to input the proxy settings the program should use. Instead the utility attempts to discover by itself which proxy settings it should use in order to connect successfully to the Assist On-Site server.
The utility can gather the proxy details defined in Internet Explorer and/or Mozilla Firefox. In some cases the proxy details are not defined directly there but an address of a Proxy Autoconfiguration file (PAC file) is provided. In this case the utility attempts to download this PAC file and see which of the proxy servers defined in the file should be used to establish the connection.
One can view their proxy settings in Microsoft's Internet Explorer via "Tools-> Internet Options-> Connections-> LAN Settings"
Having gathered these details, the utility supports establishing connections either through HTTP(S) proxy servers, or SOCKSv4 or SOCKSv5 servers.
Here is an example of a connection log where a proxy is detected and used:

If the utility cannot configure the proxy information automatically, it will attempt to connect directly with a relay server. If a proxy is required, but not detected automatically, it is possible to create a file containing the proxy server address and port as in the example line below:
Proxy=mywebproxy.mydomain.com:8080
If authentication is required, the URL may be specified as follows:
http://domain\username:password@proxy_ip:proxy_port (NTLM)
http:// username:password@proxy_ip:proxy_port (Basic)
( note that the above lines are not actual links! only samples If you want the exact syntax, simply place a http:// Before each example above)
This has to be saved in the file C:\proxy_ibm.txt or the linux user's home directory in order for the utility to pick up the settings appropriately.
The customer should contact their security / LAN administrator(s) to determine the appropriate hostname and port to put into the file.
The IBM-support engineer working with customer can contact the IBM-AOS team via
information on AOS-wiki site.
