Problem

This technote explains why removing a program from the local system causes the IBM® Rational® ClearCase® []cleartool[] commands and GUIs to no longer work as expected and fails with errors that incorrectly refererence ClearCase LT®.

Symptom

Attempts to use the cleartool command results in the following error:

C:\>cleartool
'cleartool' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

Starting cleartool from Start > Programs > Rational Software > ClearCase > cleartool results in:

noname: Warning: Can not find a group named "Domainname\clearcase".
cleartool: Error: Unable to determine ClearCase LT installation configuration from Windows Registry: The system cannot find the file specified..


Note: This is not a ClearCase LT installation.
