Error description

  • You are running CICS TS v5.3 and get an abend 978 with this
    message:
DFHSR0606 A03CICT2 Abend (code 978/AKEB) has been detected.
Review of the dump shows that an AWE is being freed by DFHZATD
but the address being passed is odd, in this specific instance
of the problem, the address ended with a 9, and thus causes
the 978 abend. Offset x'145A' into DFHZATD has the instruction
that is causing this odd address to be passed. The instruction
    is 4110 6009.

    * RECOMMENDATION: .                                            *
    ****************************************************************
CICS received a CESF LOGOFF request for an autoinstalled
terminal. Transaction CATD was attached to process the
DELETE for this terminal and, while this was in progress,
a LOGON request was received for the same terminal.
DFHZLGX did an MVS GETMAIN and created an autoinstall
work element (AWE) for the LOGON.

The DELETE failed because a lock on the terminal was held by
another task and message DFHZC6943 was issued.
As part of the cleanup following this failure, DFHZATD
issued an MVS FREEMAIN for the AWE. However, it used an
incorrect address resulting in an MVS abend 978/AKEB and CICS
    was abnormally terminated.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHZATD has been changed to use the correct address when
issuing the MVS FREEMAIN for the AWE.
