Error description

  • This APAR enables Online Area Extender to skip checking the CSC
    portion and move the new LB and LE to the new SDEP START RBA if
    there is no active SDEP segment.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of Online Area Extender (OAE) of   *
    *                 HPFPU Fast Path Online Tools in Fast Path    *
    *                 Solution Pack Version 1 Release 3            *
    *                 (FMID: HAHQ130).                             *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When IOVF expansion, OAE checks whether *
    *                      the CSC (Cannibalized SDEP CIs) portion *
    *                      of the area contains SDEP segments      *
    *                      which are currently active or not. Even *
    *                      if the customer deletes all active SDEP *
    *                      segments by the SDEP delete utility,    *
    *                      OAE fails when the current SDEP Logical *
    *                      Begin (LB) or SDEP Logical End (LE) is  *
    *                      less than the new SDEP START RBA        *
    *                      (Physical).                             *
    *                      At that time, the customer has to do    *
    *                      the following procedure, even there is  *
    *                      no active SDEP segment in the CSC       *
    *                      portion. If not, OAE will fail with     *
    *                      the FPX0094E message.                   *
    *                       - Inserting a sufficient number of     *
    *                         additional dummy SDEP segments such  *
    *                         that the LE is moved beyond the CSC  *
    *                         portion.                             *
    *                       - Using the SDEP Delete Utility to     *
    *                         delete all of the SDEP segments      *
    *                         with RBAs within the CSC portion.    *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR.         *
    ****************************************************************
    This APAR enables OAE to skip checking whether LB or LE in the
    CSC portion and move new LB and LE to the new SDEP START RBA,
    if the SDEP Delete utility is run to delete all active SDEP
    segments with QUITCI parameter immediately before OAE and there
    is no active segments in the CSC portion.
    
    This enhancements are being implemented as a result of RFE
    requirements 32579.
    
    This APAR also addresses the following internal defects:
    1. OAE abended with S0C4 in FPXBRPT0 occasionally.
    2. OAE original expansion miscalculated the allocation size
    of the extended original ADS.

  • With IMS V14 APAR PI73397 and this APAR, if the SDEP Delete
    utility with QUITCI parameter is run to delete all active
    SDEP segments and no SDEP segments inserted in the CSC portion
    after that, OAE can be performed to extend the IOVF portion
    without inserting the dummy SDEP segments.
    
    
    OAE has been modified to correctly loop the ADS DDNAMES to
    avoid S0C4.
    
    OAE original expasion has been modified to correctly calculate
    the allocation size of the extended original ADS.
