Question & Answer
Question
Customer needed a method to determine what version and release of SA z/OS product was installed on their systems, and relative maintenance level.
Answer
There are various ways to find the relative SA z/OS maintenance levels.
1) Determine SA z/OS version and release
Issue 'AOC' to get to the main SA panel. It will list the SA version and release on that screen like this:
SA z/OS Version 3 Release 5
Licensed Materials - Property of IBM
© Copyright IBM Corp. 1990, 2014
This same information is also available from the DISPSYS command, also accessible from INGAMS "B" in relation to the SA z/OS automation agent asid:
Software
Operating System : z/OS 02.01.00
NetView : IBM NetView for z/OS V6R2M1
Tower(s) : SA
Automation : System Automation for z/OS V3R5M0
Tower(s) : SYSOPS GDPS PROCOPS
2) SMP/E Query
You can go into SMP/E and do a cross zone query on the SA z/OS FMIDs; for example HWRE350 and JWRE350 or HWRE340 and JWRE340. This may show RSU / PUT level depending on how your SMP/E environment is maintained.
3) HSACMAIN and Logic Deck
There are also 2 other key elements in an SA zOS environment where INGAMS lists important maintenance information:
INGAMS option "B" (in relation to PAM primary automation manager)
This command will show the last APARs of these two critical components, for example:
Service level ... HSACMAIN Framework
Compile date : 12 MAR 2015 15:14 06 AUG 2014 11:10
Size : 00B8BC98 00054DF8
Signature : OA46674 GALVLD5035
Logic Deck ...
Release : V3R5M0
Date built : 18 Feb 2015
Time built : 09:20:31
Last APAR : OA47112
If these levels are old (as compared to the date the INGAMS "B" is submitted) then it is advised to upgrade your SA z/OS maintenance levels.
In addition, the 'logic deck' information shows you the relative maintenance level at which the last SA z/OS PDB Build was performed, as the Logic Deck is used at build time and pulls in the relative maintenance level at the time of the build as it pertains to the 'logic deck'.
This will show the release of the logic deck file used at Build time, but does not necessarily mean that the SA Agent on the displayed LPAR is running at that same release. Cross checking the APAR listed on the HSACMAIN program will show the related release level for that APAR (ie OA46674 above) on the running SA Manager instance listed, if the APAR is release specific and does not span multiple releases.
4) DISPMOD pgmname
This may show an APAR for the specified program module, if applicable.
5) BR rexxname
This may show an APAR for the specified rexx program, if applicable.
