Question

You are using IBM MQ on Solaris and/or IBM MQ on HP-UX and you want to upgrade your queue managers or move them to another host.

Answer

a) MQ 9.1 is the last version for Solaris (SPARC and X86)
That is, the next version after MQ 9.1 will NOT support Solaris.

a.1) MQ 9.1 reached its End Of Support (EOS) on 30-Sep-2023.

Statement of general direction:
Cessation of further releases for MQ on the Oracle Solaris operating system. That means the MQ V9.1 LTS will be the last supported release on this platform.

f) If you want to migrate your MQ queue managers from Solaris/HP-UX, you may consider going to AIX, Linux or Windows.

f.1) You cannot just copy the MQ data files and recovery log files from the queue manager in Solaris/HPUX and paste them in an AIX, Linux or Windows box. This will NOT work because the binary files are not compatible (word alignment, etc).

f.2) You could try to export the object definitions into text files and then use them to populate a queue manager in an supported platform/version-release.

Steps to export the object definitions and messages from one MQ queue manager in host-1 and import them in another queue manager in host-2?
