PK31331: EXCESSIVE TIMEOUTS AND DEADLOCKS ON THE ADBCHKPT TABLE

Obtain the fix for this APAR.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• If multiple WSL jobs are run at the same time with the same
  WSL name and USERID, multiple deadlocks can occur.
  

Local fix

• For the ADBCHKPT tablespace, move all the table to a separate
  tablspace, specify MAXROW 1, LOCKMAX 0, LOCKSIZE PAGE (or in
  some cases can remain ROW) and SEGSIZE 4. This should cut down
  on contention with ADBTEP2. If possible use DSNTEP2.

  Exclusive locks are  obtained on  the ADBPART  table to delete,
  insert, and select rows,  but there is no COMMIT in the ADBTEP2
  routine, save_table_details.  In addition,  table ADBPART is in
  the same simple tablespace as table ADBCHKPT, with which it has
  a parent-child relationship.
  

Problem conclusion

• (1)Add COMMIT in save_table_details.
  
  (2)Modify the sample job, ADBCHKPT,to create the checkpoint
     tablespace, ADBSCH,  as a segmented rather than a simple
     tablespace.
  
  (3)create a new sample job, ADBCHU01, that converts ADBSCH
     from a simple to a segmented tablespace.
  
  (4)unable to reproduce the issue.
