Error description

  • When the migration.bat file is missing @setlocal and @endlocal
    statements, this causes environment variables which are set
    via a call to setupCmdline.bat, to be retained by the
    command shell.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Migration.bat is missing @setlocal and  *
    *                      @endlocal                               *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The migration.bat file is missing a @setlocal at the beginning
    and a @endlocal at the end. Without these, when migration.bat
    calls setupcmdline.bat, setupcmdline.bat updates some
    DOS environment variables. When migration.bat exists, these
    varaiables remain set, causing potential issues if the same
    command shell is used for other purposes. Having @setlocal
    and @endlocal in migration.bat would cause the changes to the
    environment variables to be only for the duration of
    migration.bat, not affecting future uses of the command shell.

Problem conclusion

  • This problem really can't be easily corrected via a fixpack
    since modification of a shipped .bat file is not allowed. The
    end user may have modified the .bat themselves, and if the
    fixpack were applied, those changes would be lost. See the
    circumvention section for alternatives.
