Error description
Modify commands to CICS stop working. At first they hang. Eventually they are rejected with message: IEE342I MODIFY REJECTED-TASK BUSY In the joblog at the point where the Modify commands first started hanging, CICS issued this message: DFHCQ0001 B01CICS2 An abend (code ---/AKEC) has occurred at offset X'2472' in module DFHCQSY. (DFHCQSY is at the UQ96518 level.) This is much like CICS APAR PQ97756 (PTF UQ96518) but that fix is applied. It turns out that the PQ97756 fix does not cover all possible loops built into DFHCQSY. In particular, if the Modify command input to CICS is frequent and constant enough so that there is never a point where all tasks initiated via console have completed, then DFHCQSY can still get the runaway task timeout even with PQ97756 applied. Additional Keywords: DFHCQ0001 IEE342

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: MODIFY commands stop working. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** MODIFY commands start to hang. Then they are rejected with MSGIEE342I MODIFY REJECTED - TASK BUSY. An ABENDAKEC in module DFHCQSY will be seen indicating the kernel (KE) domain has detected runaway. The kernel domain is assuming that DFHCQSY is in a loop, but it is actually servicing many console initiated tasks. Additional Keywords: 342I
Problem conclusion
DFHCQSY has been altered so runaway task timeout cannot be triggered when it is processing CIBs.
