Problem

This technote explains why attempts to checkout a version from a IBM® Rational® ClearCase® UCM project results in the error, cleartool: Error: branch type "name" not found in VOB "pvob" and no global type definition can be found, and provides instructions to resolve the error.

Symptom

Attempts to checkout a version from a UCM project results in the following error:

M:\Project_integration\NewPVOB\project\hello>cleartool checkout -nc .
cleartool: Error: branch type "Integration.6771" not found in VOB "\NewPVOB" and no global type definition can be found.
cleartool: Error: Unable to create branch requested by -mkbranch option in config spec.
cleartool: Error: Unable to check out ".".
