Problem
This technote explains what the IBM® Rational® ClearCase® [].specdev[] file is in the []/view[] directory on UNIX® and Linux® as well as how to recreate it if missing.
Symptom
If this .specdev file is not present, errors such as the following may occur:
cleartool: error: Unable to create directory < viewtag >: not a clearcase object.
