Problem

This technote explains why the IBM Rational ClearCase MultiSite error, multitool error: sync packet was not applied: packet depends on changes not yet received, occurs and provides information on resolving the problem.

Symptom


A multitool syncreplica -import operation fails with the following error:

multitool error: sync packet was not applied: packet depends on changes not yet received

In the shipping logs of the VOB host errors like the following are unexpectedly appearing although the replicas appear to be in sync:

 C:\ccstg\vobs\repl.vbs
 - packet depends on changes not yet received
Packet requires changes up to 36; VOB has only 31 from replica: original
