Error description
The DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS panels ADB21D "Databases", panel ADB21S "Table Spaces" and panel ADB21T "Tables, Views, and Aliases" list "RO" as a valid line command when the "?" line command is used. Using the RO line command or selecting the "RO" line command from panel ADB20@ "Line Commands" results in a message: Invalid line command and The specified line command is only valid for Ownertype 'L'
Local fix
Do not use the RO line command
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: RO line command results in an invalid * * line command message, even though RO * * is listed in the line command table. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply The PTF. * **************************************************************** The line commands shown on the panel or it's extension panel apply to the entire panel, not individual rows. Since the objects in each row have varying attributes, not all the line commands listed in the panel are applicable to every object. When a line command is not valid in the context of a particular object, an error message (which varies with the line command) is issued. The RO line command shows information about roles when they are owners of the selected object. If the object does not have a role as owner, the line command is not applicable. When issued on such an object, the short message "ADB336E Invalid line command" is displayed. The long message elaborates further, referring to the catalog value that indicates if a role is the owner. For example, on ADB21T, if SYSTABLES.OWNERTYPE is not 'L' for the selected object, RO results in the following long message: "ADB336E The specified line command is only valid for Ownertype 'L' (Role)".
Problem conclusion
Message ADB336E is changed to display the more accurate short message "Not applicable", and the long message is changed to "The specified line command is only applicable when Ownertype = 'L' (Role)". Also, the help panel shown for the line command extension panels is enhanced to indicate that not all line commands are applicable to all objects. In addition, the DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS User's Guide and Reference is updated to include a similar clarification.
