3. KNOWN LIMITATIONS, PROBLEMS, AND WORKAROUNDS
=======================================================================

-ENC character set command values[

The value of the -ENC character set command must be a string value. If you specify a numeric value, the adapter will cause a processing error to occur in the SAP adapter's trace file.

JRE version number

The JRE version number in the SAP 8.3 documentation is identified as 1.4.x. The correct version number is 1.5.x.

Adapter commands
  • -B adapter option -- To properly use the -B adapter option with %tid% you have to create a resource registry entry for tid and assign it a value of %tid%.
  • -s adapter command -- The -s adapter command indicates system number, however, when used with -BAL, the -s command indicates system name.

JALE interface

The following table lists each R/3 adapter command and whether it can be used for a source (outbound data), target (inbound data), or both.

Kanji compiled maps

The following compiled maps that are installed to %DTXHOME% are the English versions:

    bapimdf20.mmc
    importr3.mmc
    bdctree.mcc
    mdftree20.mmc
    importidoc.mmc
    mdfxml67.mmc
Japanese users should copy the Kanji version of these files from
%DTXHOME%\kanji to the parent directory.

Before copying the files, back up the English version of the files in case they are needed in the future. You can then safely copy the Kanji files to the parent directory. This will overwrite the English files with the Kanji files.

Documentation changes

    Timeout (-timeout) adapter command section
    The "Timeout (-timeout)" adapter command section of the user documentation contains the sentence:

    "Specify the time in tenths of a second for the adapter to wait for a response from the SAP server."

    Change this sentence to read:

    "Specify the time in seconds for the adapter to wait for a response from the SAP server."

    Destination (-D) adapter command section

    The "Destination (-D)" section of the user documentation contains the sentence:

    GWJPST is the equivalent of (-G) and GWSERV is the equivalent of (-X) of the adapter commands.

    Change this sentence to read:

    GWHOST is the equivalent of (-G) and GWSERV is the equivalent of (-X) of the adapter commands.

ALE and JALE adapters cause crash when run on same Launcher

The following documentation describes an ALE and JALE adapter compatibility issue:

Crash occurs when ALE and JALE adapters are run on same Launcher

=======================================================================
4. NEW AND CHANGED BEHAVIOR
=======================================================================

Optional client connection parameters

A command parameter, -BPC, is used for Bytes Per Character. This parameter allows the client connection to be bypassed. For example, a connection string of: "-BPC 2 -a pgm_id -g gtwy_name -x gtwy_conn -t+ -ar3" will use a BPC of 2 to indicate Unicode. BPC is used only if none of the parameters for Client, User, Password, System, Host and Destination are present. If neither BPC nor the other parameters are set, a default BPC value of 1 is assumed.

In the command line, where CHUPSD represents the parameters -C, -H -U, -P, -S and -D
  • If (-BPC and any of CHUPSD): Log "BPC cannot be used with connection parameters"
  • If (-BPC and none of CHPSD): the BPC is used, no connection attempted
  • If (no -BPC and any of CHUPSD): Connection is attempted to retrieve BPC
  • If (no -BPC and none of CHPSD): default BPC of 1 is used

The parameters -C, -H, -U, -P, -S and -D are now optional.
