Error description
The dump showed the reason why the 0C4 occured in DFHS2SR is due to not enough space is available to complete the COPY_BELOW_BAR_TO_ABOVE. CICS is attempting a PUT_CONTAINER for DFHRESPONSE at an above the bar address for a length of X'14'. This goes pass the length in which was getmained but due to this occuring on a page boundary and the next page not being allocated the abend 0C4 occurs. . Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Abend 0C4 in DFHS2SR in function * * COPY_BELOW_BAR_TO_ABOVE. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When DFHS2SR is handling a PUT_CONTAINER request with a type of APPEND, it will attempt to use free space at the end of the current container buffer if there is room for the data. The calculation of the amount of free space is incorrect in that it does not take into account that there is a 4-byte reserved area at the beginning of the container buffer area, and this may result in an attempt to move up to 4 bytes past the end of the buffer in the COPY_BELOW_BAR_TO_ABOVE function. This will result in a S0C4 abend if the area of storage that follows the buffer has not been allocated. Additional keywords: abendAKEA abend0C4 abendS0C4 msgDFHSM0001
Problem conclusion
DFHPGCR has been changed to factor in the size of the 4-byte reserved area at the beginning of the buffer area when it performs a PUT_CONTAINER APPEND request using an existing buffer.
