Error description

  • If the EYUSTARTLIBDSN.TABULAR view is selected to retrieve
library dataset names, and your DFHRPL DD concatenation has 93
or more datasets, a storage violation will occur for the long
running task CONL (or CONA if you have MASALTLRTCNT specified in
    your EYUPARM parameters.)
The EYUSTARTLIBDSN view causes an EXEC CICS INQUIRE
LIBRARY(DFHRPL) to be issued under the covers in the MAS.
Because CONL and CONA are long running tasks, and overlays are
normally detected when storage is FREEMAIN'd, you may not
receive the SM0102 dump immediately. It may not come out until
you attempt to shut down your CICS region (MAS), or you perform
other queries through the WUI which cause the storage to be
    FREEMAIN'd.
If you happen to be running with trace turned on and the CICS
Storage Violation Trap enabled through SIT parm CHKSTSK=YES or
by turning it on using transaction
       CSFE DEBUG,CHKSTSK=CURRENT
while the region is running, the violation will be detected when
it occurs, rather than at FREEMAIN time, and an SM0103 dump will
    be produced.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Storage overlays will occur in a MAS *
    * when the LIBDSN resource table is *
    * requested through the API or WUI, if *
    * more than 92 dataset names are *
    * returned. This can result in *
    * unpredictable and invalid processing *
    * and CICS storage violations. Note that *
    * the area overlaid is normally allocated *
    * for the life of the MAS, so the CICS *
    * storage violations may not occur until *
    * the MAS is terminated. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: After applying the PTF that resolves this *
    * APAR, all MASes must be restarted. Note *
    * that the restarts do not need to occur at *
    *                 the same time.                               *
    ****************************************************************
The first time a LIBDSN request is processed under the CONL or a
CONA task in a MAS, a buffer large enough to handle 255 datasets
(the CICS maximum for LIBDS) is allocated for the task. On
subsequent requests for the same task, the area is to be reused.
Method EYU0NCLD (NCLD), which moves the data into the buffer,
invalidly uses a different buffer which is 4K in length. As a
result, if the output moved into the buffer exceeds 4K (header
information and more than 92 datasets), the storage following
the 4K buffer will be overlaid.

Problem conclusion

  • NCLD has been updated to use the correct buffer when processing
    the LIBDSN dataset list.
