Error description
IMS PA creates an internal transaction record from the many log records which comprise a transaction. This can be extracted as an index record for IMS PI to assist by, for instance, identifying a bad response time and then being able to drill down to the individual log records for further investigation.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IMS Problem Investigator V2.1. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: IMS Problem Investigator support for * * IMS Performance Analyzer Transaction. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** This APAR is providing the following in this APAR: Transaction Index and DB2 Active Log Support as follows: 1. Transaction Index The Transaction Index is a specialized extract file created by an IMS Performance Analyzer V4R1 SPE, see APARS PK64427 and PK69460. Each record in the index represents an IMS transaction and contains all the cumulative information from the IMS log about that transaction. IMSPI uses the index to provide intelligent problem detection. The index can be processed on its own or merged with the associated IMS log files in an interactive diagnosis session to provide improved levels of problem detection. For example "Locate all transactions with response time greater than 1 second" 2. DB2 Active Log IMSPI APAR PK60772 previously introduced support for DB2 archive log files. DB2 active logs were not supported at this time and generated the following error message: ALZ0108E Log File Open request failed; ABENDS213-04 This APAR now allows DB2 active log files(VSAM linear data sets) to be processed in the dialog, as well as batch reporting and extract functions. Note that if the DB2 address space has the active logs allocated DISP=OLD then they cannot be used by IMSPI. 3. Elapsed time option in batch The new ELAPSED batch command can be specified in the SYSIN command input to cause batch reporting to report the elapsed time between log record events, in the same way as the elapsed time option works in the dialog. The syntax is ELAPSED MICRO|NANO. 4. Improved IMS montor record reporting. 5. Editing a Filter now initializes the Level setting to 1, rather than unnecessarily prompting for a value.
