Problem summary

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Database recovery fails with large *
    * volume of LOG input. Errors include: *
    *                      U384-0A FRXPSDR0                        *

    *                      S80A, S0C4 various modules              *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: INSTALL CORRECTIVE SERVICE FOR APAR/PTF *
    ****************************************************************
    Log input records can cause all available memory in
    the subordinate address space to be allocated.
    Additional buffers or other necessary control blocks
    then cannot obtain memory. Different modules may be
    in control when the request for additional storage
    is made, and the failure symptoms can vary.

Problem conclusion

  • AIDS: RIDS/UTIL RIDS/DBS DBS/UTIL
     GEN:
    KEYWORDS:

    *** END IMS KEYWORDS ***
    The buffer pool manager now reserves 1M of storage
    to be used for DRF control blocks and for system
    termination processing.
    Log input buffers will be spilled to dataspace
    storage when additional buffers are needed and not
    available.

    FRXBPG0$: reserves 1M safety cushion that cannot
    be used for buffer pool storage
    FRXPSDR0, FRXWSPL0, FRXLSRT2, FRXLSE15, FRXLSE35:
    cooperatively manage the queue of Log input buffers
    and the external dataspace storage to increase the
    available buffer pool capacity.
