PM07574: ALC MISSING PRIMARY KEY AFTER REL/ALTER OF INDEX

Obtain the fix for this APAR.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS ALC command built DDL
  to drop the primary key when an index was renamed on panel
  ADB21XAR "Redefine Index".
  

Local fix

• Remove the ALTER TABLE DROP PRIMARY KEY DDL from the generated
  job.
  

Problem summary

• ****************************************************************

  *                 to alter an index on a primary key           *

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If a user alters an index on a primary  *
  *                      key constraint, but does not alter the  *
  *                      table associated with that index, the   *
  *                      table loses its primary key constraint. *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply The PTF.                               *
  ****************************************************************
  Since an index on a primary key cannot be dropped if there is an
  existing primary key constraint, DB2 Admin first creates a drop
  of the primary key before dropping the index.  The problem is
  that the table's primary key is now gone.
  

Problem conclusion

• Re-create the table's primary key after (1) Dropping the primary
  key; (2) Dropping the index; (3) Re-creating the altered index.
