Abstract

This Fix Pack will upgrade your IBM SPSS Text Analytics 14.0 to IBM SPSS Text Analytics 14.0 FP2 (14.0.0.2).

This Fix Pack provides important product corrections for IBM SPSS Text Analytics 14.0

This patch is the latest maintenance release for IBM SPSS Text Analytics 14.0 and incorporates all customer reported issues addressed in patches and hot fixes since the release of the 14.0.x media. This patch must be installed to a machine which already has an instance of IBM SPSS Text Analytics 14.0.x installed.

IMPORTANT: The content of this Fix Pack was previously available from the SPSS Customer Support site as Text Analytics 14.0.2 patch.

  • The version has now changed from 14.0.2 to 14.0.0.2
  • The content of the patch has not changed
  • If you are currently at 14.0.2 you do not need to download and apply this Fix Pack

Prerequisites

The Fix Pack is language independent but can only be installed over existing installations of IBM SPSS Text Analytics 14.0.x.

Installation Instructions


To Install on Windows platforms (click to expand)
Windows 32 bit
1. Download the 32 bit patch file.

2. Ensure Modeler Client is shutdown, or the Modeler Server service is stopped if you are patching Text Analytics Server.

3. Double click on the .exe file that you have downloaded; the installer will automatically find your Text Analytics 14 installation.

4. When the install wizard is displayed choose "next" and then "install" to apply the patch.

Windows 64 bit

1. Download the 64 bit patch file.

2. Ensure Modeler Client is shutdown, if you are if you are patching Text Analytics Client or the Text Analytics Server service is stopped if you are patching Text Analytics Server.

3. Extract the .zip file from the fix pack archive you have downloaded to a temporary directory.

4. Double click on the setup.exe file that you have extracted.

5. When the install wizard is displayed choose "next" and follow the instruction on the wizard apply the fix pack.

To Install on UNIX and Linux platforms (click to expand)
  1. Download the appropriate patch file from the matrix, <platform>_<product>_patch.tar
    …where platform is in {sol64,aix64,linux,linux64,hpia64}
    …where product is in {batch,runtime,server}
  2. Stop Modeler Server. After you have stopped Modeler Server
          #./modelersrv.sh list
    Should return no processes.
  3. On AIX ONLY run the following command:
          #/usr/sbin/slibclean
  4. Change directory to where you downloaded the patch tar file. Please ensure you are logged in as the user that originally installed the product.
          #cd <text analytics patch-download-directory>
  5. Unpack the tar file
          #tar xvf <tarfile>
  6. Install the patch pointing to Modeler's installation directory.
          #./install.sh -modelerdir <Modeler installation directory>
          For example: #./install.sh -modelerdir /usr/SPSSInc/PASWModeler14
  7. Confirm to overwrite the existing Text Analytics 14 Server
          i.e. 'Y'
  8. Start the Modeler Server.
To Install Adapters for IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services (click to expand)

Package Manager utility can be used to install package files into SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services. The repository must be stopped prior to installing packages.


Note: If WebSphere application server is used with SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services, it must be running while packages are being installed. WebSphere must be stopped and restarted prior to running Package Manager.

The user must have administrator-level privileges to be able to install packages. The deployed packages are located in the <SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services Installation Directory>/staging/.

To prevent the newer version of a package from being overwritten by an older version, Package Manager performs a version check. Package manager also checks for prerequisite components to ensure that they are installed and their versions are equal to or newer than the required version. If any of these checks fail, the package is marked as missing prerequisites in the dialog pane but can still be installed. However, it is not recommended to install packages that failed dependencies checks.

To install the adapter:


1. Ensure that the Deployment Services application server is in the following state:
  • JBoss: shut down
  • Oracle WebLogic: shut down
  • IBM Websphere: running; server should be recycled prior to running Package Manager, to clear jni handles
  • Oracle Application Server: shut down

2. Download and save the SPSS Text Analytics Collaboration and Deployment Service 4 Adapter package file (14.0-IM-STextAnalyticsCnDS4-<platform>-FP0002.package) to a location on the repository host.

3. Navigate to <SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services Installation Directory>/setup/.

4. Depending on the operating system, execute packagemanager.bat on Windows or packagemanager.sh on UNIX.

5. When the Package Manager starts up, enter an administrative username and password and click ok to login.

6. Click on the Install button.

7. From the installation path, navigate to the location of the package file on the repository host.

8. Select the SPSS Text Analytics Collaboration and Deployment Services 4 Adapter package file (14.0-IM-STextAnalyticsCnDS4-<platform>-FP0002.package). If all goes well, you should see log messages scroll by and the tree update until the package is installed.

9. Click Finish.

10. Start up the application server or service.
