PROBLEM SUMMARY

USERS AFFECTED:
All users of IBM WebSphere Application Server version 7

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
EAR file will be deleted as part of Sync when you have a mixed cell environment from a version 5 Node repository.

RECOMMENDATION:
None

In a mixed cell environment consisting of WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment edition, versions 7.0 and 5.1 Node, sync fails deleting the EAR file in the installedApps directory from the 5.1 Node.

Sync fails with below exception :

/syncNode.sh xxxxx.cn.ibm.com 8879
ADMU0116I: Tool information is being logged in file
/usr/WebSphere/AppServer/logs/syncNode.log
ADMU0401I: Begin syncNode operation for node wci92 with
Deployment Manager
xxxxx.cn.ibm.com: 8879
ADMU0016I: Synchronizing configuration between node and cell.

The deployment.xml in the V7.0 Node contains parameters which are not available in a 5.1 environment like "manageCachedHandles" which makes Sync fails and deletes EAR files.

PROBLEM CONCLUSION:
Modified the code to avoid passing the V7.0 attributes in the deployment.xml into the deployment.xml of a V5.1 node.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in Fix Pack 7.0.0.13 Refer to the Recommended Updates page for delivery information:
