PM04297 resolves the following problem:

ERROR DESCRIPTION:
When changing an LDAP user password on WebSphere Application Server with Virtual Member Manager (VMM) federated repositories, a "NameAlreadyBoundException" or
"InvalidAttributeValueException" will be thrown from the LDAP server, which causes the update to fail.

PROBLEM SUMMARY

USERS AFFECTED:
All users of IBM WebSphere Application Server V6.1 or V7.0 who use federated repositories (Virtual Member Manager).

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
You can not change an LDAP user password with VMM because of an "NameAlreadyBoundException" or "InvalidAttributeValueException"

RECOMMENDATION:
None

If on WAS 7.0.0.7, 6.1.0.27 or 6.1.0.29, when changing an LDAP user password with VMM, an exception was thrown from the back-end LDAP repository, which indicated that add attribute operation could not be handled. This caused an update password failure to application.

PROBLEM CONCLUSION:
The problem has been fixed. The correct LDAP operation 'replace' will be used by VMM to update a LDAP user password, and there will be no exception thrown.
